Daily Devo: On Purpose

Everyday a miracle happens.

You wake up, convert oxygen into carbon dioxide, complete many biological and physiological cycles, fire off trillions of synapses, and make life happen for yourself, adding shades of character to the overall human experience. Everyday is an opportunity to bring Heaven to Earth, to encourage someone else, be your brother’s keeper, trust God with a situation, take the high road. Everyday is an opportunity to purposefully write your story, co-partnering with God. Will you take this day to bring about God’s will? Will you realize that your being here is a complete gift for yourself and for others, and not be afraid to live life fearlessly and purposefully, submitted to the Father? Will you add joy to your neighbor’s life? Will you seek out the good even when it seems hard to find? Will you be courageous enough to tell the truth?

Ever day is an opportunity to know God a bit more, to have a testimony, and to grow. Find the good. Make the opportunity to be good, no matter what comes your way today. Please know that what God provides is good for you always (see Romans 8:28), and that He does not change (James 1:17). Today is your day, make it count.

Scriptures

Psalms 16 describes the joy of life when lived for and with God.
v. 5 “Lord, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing. You guard all that is mine. The land you have given me is a pleasant land. What a wonderful inheritance!”
v. 11 “You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.”
James 1:4 talks of how we must take the opportunity for growth: “So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete needing nothing.”

Prayer

Lord, Thank you for this day which you have made. I pray your will be done for me this day. Please give me the courage to speak and walk in truth always, and help me to be a light on campus today. Father, thank you for using me for your purposes and plans. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
